Coming on the Board of Life

God so much loves humanity that He created him “in our image, after our likeness” (Gen 1:26).

By creating man last in the process of creation is a great honor; he was created into an abundance of resources. “And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind”. (Gen 1:24) shows that every creature came into existence by HIS words whereas Gen 2:7 made it clear that  “the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”

Man was made a creature different from all that had been hitherto made. Flesh and spirit, heaven and earth, were put together in him. Man, when he was made, was to glorify the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Into that great name we are baptized, for to that great name we owe our being. The soul of man bears God’s image. Ecc 7:29 clearly stated that “God hath made man upright”. Man was again adequately equipped in Gen 1:28 “God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”

His understanding, thus, saw Divine things clearly and truly; there were no errors or mistakes in his knowledge; his will consented at once, and in all things, to the will of God. His affections were all regular, and he had no bad appetites or passions. His thoughts were easily brought and fixed to the best subjects. Thus holy, thus happy, were our first parents in having the image of God upon them.

Jer 29:11 sums up what God thinks of and plans for you “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end”.

But how is this image of God upon you defaced! May the Lord renew it upon our souls by His grace!
