Very often I wonder why God is so compassionate to Man. Candidly if God will take a thirty-day leave and commission me to act for Him, He would have to recreate Man on His resumption of work. I would have wiped every individual off; including myself. The reason why I would be the last is that I would like to ensure that there is no single individual remaining.
Keep your cool; God doesn’t go on holidays. He rested on one Sabbath day only; the Sabbath immediately following creation. Other Sabbaths He works “…sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work” (John 5:16-17).
“God created Lucifer “full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty…set … upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire” (Ezek 28:12-15). Pride overtook Lucifer causing him to champion a rebellion against his creator. Note that God did not create the devil, but He did create the perfect, holy angel who later became the devil; he transformed himself into the devil by the development of pride, greed, arrogance, and self-seeking ambition. Ezekiel accused “…Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness” (Ezek 28:15-17). Satan believed that if he could turn the entire universe against God, then God, because of His kind, meek, and gentle nature, would step down and he could take over. He and his companions were cast out unto the earth for a season; when fire would come from within him to devour him (Ezek 28:18-19). Isaiah corroborated Ezekiel’s claim that Satan would be disgraced and destroyed and cast out of his grave; thus leaving no trace of his existence (Isa 14:15-20); and so will it be for evildoers the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned (Isa 14:20).
God then created man to rule over the earth (Gen 1:27-29); empowering him thus: “God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Gen 1:28). However to refrain man from going the way of Satan God gave him a caution “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat” (Gen 2:16-17). Satan is aware that Gen 1:28 is a blessing and not an instruction; thus, fruitfulness, multiplication, regeneration, power and dominion are embedded in man. Satan knew that to stall man’s dominion over him he should be made to transgress God’s command. Satan also realized that man carries the image of God because He “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Gen 2:7); implying that man shares God’s Spirit.
Note that God created man’s mind free of evil but gave him the chance of making a choice. God did not create evil “God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good” (Gen 1:31); evil came in when Satan rebelled.
God could have destroyed Satan, but then, heaven would have ceased to be a place of perfect tranquillity and happiness. God created man with intelligence and free will because He wanted his companionship; had He eliminated Satan, His creatures would have felt that they had to serve a traitor by the threat of force instead of from love. They then would no longer be companions to Him. God had this in mind when He created man and keeps it so in managing the affairs of men; thus making Him identify a glimpse of righteousness in our ways. Again, in every generation, He raises intercessors to plead for man.
God wants to feel about His creatures like the father whose child came back from school and throws his weight on the father; telling him (the father) of his commendation in school. They must have a choice, otherwise, their love, devotion, and companionship would mean nothing to Him; and, then, there will be no companionship.
Next ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil (Gen 3:5).
