The Bible is not specific on the age of Adam at his formation. But we know that God backs His words with His actions and vice versa. God created Adam before Eve “the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground…put him into the garden of Eden …And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him… but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him… And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man… Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Gen 2:7-24).
Nobody knows how many years, months, days after his creation was Eve formed out of Adam but we are aware of consistencies in God’s actions. In all the ages of couples known in the Bible than man is older than the wife. Because man is given the responsibility of the care and provision for the home, the woman is handed over to the man “And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man” (Gen 2:22). Notwithstanding the divinity of Christ God requested Joseph “the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife” (Matt 1:20).
God assigned man with responsibilities at creation “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it” (Gen 2:15) and empowered him for same “and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over…” (Gen 1:28).
During the exodus from Egypt to the Promised Land, twelve spies went in to investigate. Two came back with a good report and the remainder with a bad report that Israel could not enter as the people were too numerous and too strong (Num 13: 30-33; 13:6-9). This spurred a rebellion against Moses which action caused God’s anger against the people and thus declared “Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me” (Num 14:29). Earlier on God had allowed “Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD” (Ex 30:14).
This age is substantiated in other ways: (i) making of singular vows (Lev 27:2-3); (ii) offering to the Lord (Ex 30:14); (iii) service in the army (Num1:3); and (iv) appointment of Levites to set forward the work of the house of the LORD (Ezra 3:8).
Now that you’ve attained or passed this age God takes you accountable for your actions. You‘d be able to effectively project your future; both in the spiritual as well as in the physical.
As the Lord moves, His disciples are to step in line with His Spirit as contained in the Scripture, rather than the ways of the world.
